Jenna Thorpe

Where did it all begin? From childhood,  Jenna has styled anyone from baby dolls to giddy prom girls.  She didn't even think of hairdressing as a career until summer of her senior year of high school.   Once realizing this might be the ticket, she took a 3 week break after graduating, she enrolled into a long time fixture in St. Petersburg, Lorraine's Academy, and so the journey began…

As a professional hair and make-up artist for 15 years, Jenna has done almost every facet of the beauty biz.  Starting as an assistant to some of Tampa Bay’s award winning stylists, she learned the fine art of coloring early on in her career. Jenna has worked on fashion shows in the Tampa area, Orlando Premiere Show,  assisted in styling news anchors for Bay News 9 and much, much more.

After moving to St. Augustine in 2001, Jenna worked in downtown St. Augustine at Panache for 5 years and then at their beach location for 3 years. While there, she earned the titles of AVEDA color coach and Master Stylist.  Jenna also was the creator for Panache’s “Love Your Mother” Eco- friendly fashion show.  An event showcasing talents of local designers (herself included) and stylists, making their collection entirely out of recycled materials.  During it’s 5 year run, this show raised thousands of dollars for local and environmental causes.

In 2010, Jenna decided it was necessary to move on to a new project that she could call her own. Her own vision and style. She knew it was vital to stay small and familiar… that’s how some of the best relationships are built! After all, small is the new big. So November 1, 2010,  Jenna bought a little shop called A Hair Off San Marco and slowly began to transform it into the boutique salon that is now, Philosophie.

One of Jenna’s first loves is fashion.  She loves to translate high fashion hair into something more wearable for day to day life.  Some of her other loves include (but not limited to)  razor cutting,  shaggy bangs, tone on tone color, finding that perfect shade of blonde and an amazingly smooth  yet voluptuous blow out.

To expound upon the vision for Philosophie, Jenna called on her then manager and bestie, Bri West (now owner of Magnolia Supply just down the street) to help build The Apothecary.  These two were the dynamic team who carefully curated the shop, scouring the internet for some of the industries most unique beauty finds. Now Jenna has built the team of Kim Buhler and Marlena Lomonaco to join her as part of curation and display. You may find these 3 on any given Monday dressing a window with embarrassingly cheesy pop music blasting in the shop. It's the process!  When Jenna is not agonizing over shop details she is chasing around her sons Sascha and Jude, planning her next get away with husband, David or  rearranging her entire house while secretly belting out the perfect karaoke song.( Should she ever get the guts to get up and sing in front of a live audience.)
