Bridal Bits & Bobs

A wedding beauty and style blog

The Philosophie Bridal Team had the pleasure of styling Candace and her bridal party for her downtown St. Augustine ceremony (reception held in the emptied pool of the Lightner Museum—cool!).  Her immaculate, retro with a modern twist style complements her gorgeous vintage-inspired dress perfectly…

Check out our Bridal Team’s gorgeous work on these lovely nuptials!  Bride Lauren’s ‘do is a wonderful compromise between up and down, for those brides-to-be looking for ideas…

Our own Mandy Alabanza did ALL of the hair and make-up for this GORGEOUS wedding, held at the Fountain of Youth and the Sanchez House in St. Augustine.  Check out her work!  (Photos courtesy of Pure Sugar Studios)

So, Will and Yours Truly were taking a little stroll uptown recently, and popped in to Declarations, a boutique/event planning shop.  Among the many adorable items (ranging from candles to jewelry), were some truly covetable bridal hair adornments.  What I love about these is that they all evoke a bygone era…

My faves are those headbands—imagine them worn across the forehead with a gorgeous side-swept 1920’s updo, sigh…

Stop by Declarations in uptown St. Augustine (they’re our neighbors!) to take a peek.

These two lovely ladies, mother of the bride and mother of the groom, specifically requested “non-grandma” hair, and Kelly delivered.  She transformed a short bob into a sassy 60’s-inspired half-updo, and used feathers to adorn a tousled side-swept style.  No grandmas here….

Ahh, bridesmaid.  The title alone is enough to make us fashionistas shudder.  Fear not; bolder color and style choices have given the position a much-needed update.  Chartreuse, goldenrod, cerise and seafoam dresses and shoes make us excited to be a ‘maid.

At Philosophie we are BIG fans of short hair.  And we couldn’t help but notice the lack of options for short-haired brides out there in the weddingshpere.  Here’s one idea for you beautiful bobbed brides (Hair and makeup by Cassandra LaMarca)…
